Buying floor tiles in Hyderabad

A short buying note on finish, batch details, laying method, and the costs that may sit outside the tile-box price.

Take a room brief to the showroom

Tell the Hyderabad supplier where the tile will go: living room, kitchen, bathroom, balcony, or stairs. Ask to see the intended floor use, finish, and actual product label. A tile that looks right on a wall or display board may not be the right choice underfoot in a wet or heavily used area.

Check the boxes before you commit

  • What is the exact brand, series, size, finish, and declared floor use? Keep a photo of the box label.
  • Do all boxes have matching shade and calibre information? Open a few and view the tiles in your home's light before laying.
  • What is the manufacturer's recommended installation system for the tile, base, and room? Confirm this with the installer too.
  • Can the supplier reserve matching boxes for any shortfall or future repair? Ask about returns before ordering extras.

The box price is not the floor price

Compare the delivered tile price with the full job: measured area, layout cuts, skirting, base preparation, adhesive or mortar, grout, labour, transport, and taxes. Ask the installer to explain the likely offcuts for each room rather than adding the same blanket wastage figure everywhere. In bathrooms and balconies, waterproofing is a separate decision and cost; grout is not a waterproofing system.

Common pitfalls

  • Buying wall or display tiles for a floor without checking the product's intended use can create a poor fit for the room.
  • Mixing shade or calibre from different boxes without checking the labels can produce a visibly uneven floor.
  • Treating the tile-box price as the full installed price can leave labour, preparation, transport and waterproofing outside the budget.
